Frequently Asked Questions
What do you mean by inclusivity?
We are saying that everyone is welcome in our church. Everyone who is interested in the knowledge of God, interested in the meaning of life, interested in the respect of individuals. We recognize that we are all on our unique path and attempt to nurture that effort. The homeless, the needy of spirit or body, the disenchanted, and also those simply wanting to connect are a part of our congregation.
I love your church and would like to attend, but where in the world do I park?
There is street parking on 5th Avenue and some on 4th Street.
Free Parking is available on Sundays in the Barclay Parkade (corner of 6th Avenue and 3rd Street SW), and the small far parking lot 5th Street and 5th Avenue SW closest to the buildings.
Music has always been an important part of my church experience. Do you have a strong music program at your church?
We are very proud of our music program. We have an adult choir with many accomplished musicians and singers in the group. We have a grand piano and a pipe organ that was installed by Casavant Freres in 1912. For more information on the music program and organ, please see the Music Ministry link.
Are you open during the work week? I live in the suburbs but work downtown. I could drop in during the day but it is difficult for me on the weekends.
We have a regular Wednesday communion at 12:10. All are welcome. Also, the sanctuary is open weekdays for meditation and prayer. The labyrinth is also open weekdays from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Please enter through the doors on 4th Street if the large front doors are closed.
What is an affirming church?
An affirming church is one that embraces/affirms the worth and dignity of ALL people and specifically and intentionally lesbians and gays. They are welcomed into the church and we cherish their input.
Do you support the gay agenda?
We’re not sure what you mean by the gay agenda. If you are asking if we welcome and include same sex couples, the answer is yes we do.
